Avalon: The Beginning

Ch.1: Day 1267

Scene: A damp prison cell dimly lit with stones that illuminate faintly called mineral bulbs. It’s a fairly large cell holding but a bit over crowded. There are babies crying and people moaning in pain, some resting on the ground while other sit on benches or where ever they can find an open spot to rest. The air is very a bit humid and is tainted the smell of decay mixed with must. Every now and then, you can catch a draft of fresh air as the guards bring in new prisoners.

The last remnants of the Matchethew resistance have been captured and imprisoned. And at last, the leader of the band and the only one remaining, Kai, has just been capture and thrown in. His clothes are tattered and are stained with blood and dirt. He looks as if he had taken a brutal beating and somehow managed to survive it. His body has been afflicted with deep gash and bullet wounds. He has cuts, bruises, and lacerations all over his body.

Proud like the warrior he is, he tries to stand upon his feet to show his strength and pride, but fails in his attempt to regain his dignity from those guards who had just thrown him in, loses consciousness and falls flat on his face. BOOM! His subordinates gasps at this sight and crowd around; some in total aw and disbelief at his strength and courageous will, with others in complete disregard and ashamed that they were foolish enough to oppose the law and follow some young kid. They just look down at his lifeless frayed body. Suddenly, you hear footsteps scampering in the background from the back of the cell swimming through the hoard of prisoners to the front. People’s heads began to turn towards a young looking woman with silky long white hair as they step back to make room for her to come through. When she finally makes her way through, she kneels down and rolls the young lad on his back and props him up a bit, laying his head in her lap. She signals for someone to bring her a bucket of water, a bottle of water, a towel, and the first aid.

Drip… drip… The young warrior tries to open his eyes a little bit to see what it was that is dripping on his face. His vision is a bit blur. As his eyes began try and focus, another drop lands right above his eye, causing him to squint. Mustering up what strength he had left, in a low tone, he mutters…

Kai: “Mother… Mother, is that you?”

Another drop hits him in the face.

Kai: “Mother… don’t cry… it’s gonna be alright… all I hav….”

Mother: “shhh….. Save your energy my baby, you don’t have to fight anymore.”

Not able to hold back any of her emotions anymore, a stream of tears begin to rush down her face as she yells out.

“What’s taking so long?! Get me that water and first aid now!”

As she looks down at her youngest and only child she has left, his face reminds her of her second child whom she lost a few years back. A brief image of his face flashes in her mind. Joyful memories begin to fill her soul as she briefly reminisces to herself as she sits in her present and painful reality. She mumbles to herself under her breath.

“Please God… not again…” she continues to cry.

Aviara makes her way through and presents herself before Fayth, Kai mother, and Kai with the bucket of water, bottle of water, towel and first aid. She immediately drops everything in hand upon her first sight of Kai lying in his mother’s lap. She becomes petrified, unable to move, and zones out from reality. She looks as if she’s seen a ghost. Rhaena comes from behind Aviara and tries to snap her back into reality. As she continues to stare down at Kai in his mother’s lap, the last moments with her dear and beloved friend Avalon quickly flashes in her mind. Tear also began to fill up in her eyes as she watches Kai reach up to his mother’s left side of her face just as Avalon did when he lay in her own lap in his last moments. He gently strokes his mother’s face to comfort her just as Avalon did and said the very same words as Avalon did. And as Kai said them, Aviara can hear Avalon say those same exact words just before he had died.

Kai: “Don’t worry mother, everything gonna be….”

Avalon: “Don’t worry Aviara, everything gonna be….”

Aviara says the last part along with Kai as she continues to her Avalon’s voice…

Kai: “…Alright”

Avalon: “…Alright”

Aviara: “…Alright”

Time seemed to have frozen as she finished those words. Everyone turns and looked at her only to find her breaking down and crying. Feeling weak, in her legs, she falls out and is caught by Rhaena. Aviara mutters to herself…

“Why?! Why did you have to leave us without direction? Why did you sacrifice yourself and leave us?! Why did you put it all on the line just to save me?! And now this…!”

She wipes her eyes and regains her composure and began to help Fayth and Rhaena tend to Kai’s wounds.

While tending to Kai’s wounds, he asks

“Where is my older brother Terrell?”

The three of them, Fayth, Aviara, and Rhaena, all paused and looked at each other with a dreadful expression on their faces, neither one of them were willing to tell Kai the truth of what just happened to his eldest brother. Fayth, with her head now lowered, musters up the strength inside to answer her son’s question. She clears her throat and wipes her eyes again.

“They took him away about 10 minutes ago…. To…. be…” she chokes up a bit. “TO BE EXECUTED!”

Kai’s eyes widen as she speaks her very last word.

Scene: A dark and narrow corridor lit with red mineral bulbs. A team of 5 guards leads Terrell to his final demise.

Clank… thud….clank…thud…. you can hear the sound of the footsteps of the heavily armored guards and Terrell’s bionic leg and real leg and the chains that Terrell bare, echo throughout the corridor. Terrell slows down a bit to delay as much time as he can, his condemned fate. One of the guards that were covering in the back, knocks Terrell in the back of the head with the butt end of his rifle, shoves him to the ground, and kicks him in the side of his ribs. He then yells at him.
“Get your ass up and stay with the pace we set for you and if you do anything else to delay your timely death, I’ll shoot you where you stand!”

He proudly gets to his feet and continues his walk. He begins to think to himself as he smiles.

“Well little brother, looks as if I’d be joining you pretty soon. I’ve missed you a lot!”

Sniff…”Has it really been that long?! What, about 3 and half years since that one fated day when you returned home? My little brother Ava, you had finally made it back home. You surprised us all that night you came home. And as usual, you played another joke on mom. Hahaha… knowing you, I bet you yourself, was even surprised. At that time, we were nearing the end of the ten year struggle to establish our independence. You said that on a certain classified mission, something had happened. Something unexplainable happened. Or rather you where to afraid to explain it…. All I know is that you left us with no hope and no answers! And that you left our baby brother hurt and angry with you. I wish I could go back and change that one day from happening, that one moment that had happened that you felt that you couldn’t explain…. The moment that changed our fate as well as your fate forever….”
